I think you are making a rhetorical point unrelated to animal welfare, but in point of fact, "free range" hens do not enjoy a meaningfully greater level of comfort. The only way to reduce these suffering of exploited vulnerable individuals is not to pay for their exploitation in the first place.
You and I both know it's the marketing of the comfort level of the chicken but there is no such thing in reality under industrialism. Nobody is under a rock here.
Most people live in Plato's Cave and their entire reality is constructed by marketing.
Allegory of the cave is not based in marketing. Capitalism drives our reality more than marketing. The real mental illness is our modern day economy.
Correct, but marketing (really, propaganda) is part of how capitalism reproduces itself.
