Extremely cis things to say to a trans person while drunk and looking like you're on the brink of tears: "look, what you're doing takes a lot of courage, but for me it's just ... not an option ... I have a wife, I'd have to tell my parents ... yknow ... its just ... not worth the effort, I can put up with it"

For what it's worth, I'm personally more on the (mostly closeted) gender non-conforming side of things, so I totally get where you're coming from.
