I'm sure that acetone works, but maybe too well? I've only used food as the extracting medium. Butter was my preferred means, mainly because I worked at a movie theater and had access to a lot of butter. I've used heavy milk and made ice-cream and once bread. The bread was light green and tasted like shit, but it still worked. The ice-cream was gross too. But when you started thinking you might like another scoop you knew it was working.
