nerd The definition of fruit is that they bear seeds. It is a biological classification, not a culinary one (like vegetable). Tubers and rhizomes do not bear seeds and are therefore not fruits. You can grow a plant from them, but you can do that with cuttings and those aren’t fruit either. Culinarily, a potato is a vegetable or starch, and still not a fruit.
