My dear, the NATO military spending has been ignored for long time. Now it was decided to reach it to replace the US that stopped being a reliable partner.

The answer was negative, especially in regards of the American support.
Now the EU started a program to rearm itself and create its own nuclear shield.
Maybe you missed the part where Trump decided to โmaybeโ withdraw the US from NATO, switched to a Mafia style for military protection, threatened to reduce military capacity in the EU (effectively eliminating some functions), and announced that he may invade Greenland. Not counting the MAGA doctrine to stop sending troops around the world (except maybe in Israel, ops!) and the leaks on Signal.
Sorry man, TACO may be a clown, but the EU took it seriously. We will replace the US military shield by 2030. Google it if you donโt believe it.

Also, it would be nice if the US withdrew from NATO.
The rest of NATO has been a bunch of glorified provinces of the US since NATO's inception.
That would be great, actually. NATO in general should both be prevented from invading elsewhere, and be forced to answer for its already-committed crimes.
Glorified USian provinces in Europe will not be going independent any time soon.
