I've been playing Death Stranding 2 as often as I can. It's gorgeous, the plot is a decent pickup from the first one, if heavy-handed with the exposition, and relatively well voice acted, aside from some wooden line delivery from Norman Reedus. It's hard to tell if it's a direction thing or if he just didn't know what the context was for some of the script. Either seem likely.
Sometimes I still play Fortnite with a dog park friend, but I'm pretty sick of superheroes, so this season was kind of boring from the beginning.
I like Kojima and there's absolutely a nonzero chance that's the case.
Yeah, I like Kojima too, but unless his team went out of their way to fully explain all of his worldbuilding ahead of the voice recordings, the voice actors were at a disadvantage from the beginning. Sometimes they put emphasis on the wrong words, or not enough emphasis on the right words. It reminds me of a lot of the voice acting from CDPR, which seems to have been written and directly translated from Polish, but for some reason, the VOs weren't allowed to say "Hey, in English, we don't talk like that and it doesn't make sense for the context", like dropping "I" from sentences, so they just sound like "Going to go with the horse. Have to find more plants".
Sometimes it also makes me think of things like Squid Game where the acting seems fine when it's in Korean, and then American actors show up and their lines sound as if a four year old forced them to read the lines exactly as it wrote them.
