Gawker was found civilly liable for defamation after publishing details from Hulk Hogan's sex tape. They also published a recording of the quote in the OP, I don't remember if it was from that tape or a separate incident. The size of the judgement against them basically bankrupted the company.

BS clickbait is, for better or worse, still completely legal.

They also defied the court order to take it down by republishing the video in an article titled something like "the court wants to bury this but we refuse".
