Have you tried the Dark Mod? Its like a modern thief game. Totally free too.

If I had one complaint about it its that there is no real campaign to it. Just missions you can download from the community

No its a standalone thing. I don't really know why its called a mod. Its a full game.

Its made in the same engine as Doom 3 so the lighting is really nice. Would recommend. Plays more like thief 2 than 1
