Guitar makes a lot of sense to me either way. The really technical part is up on the frets.

just one anecdote, but I'm solidly right handed and I'm quite comfortable fretting with my left hand. It's a challenge to learn guitar regardless of which hand. But I have absolutely nothing against folks making and playing left-handed instruments either, folks should go with what they want

Yeah left-handed stringed instruments are actually quite rare, and are only used when you can't use a right-handed one due to disability. You're using both hands to do different but coordinated movements, so being left- or right-handed doesn't make that big a difference.
