Megaman is still hard as nails but save states for sure help with that.

Oh my God, save states all the most amazing thing ever. Zelda is so fucking hard, sometimes it takes me 10 times to try to get through a room. Thank God, I can keep going back.

Save states are amazing because I don't have 8 hours per day to go back and keep retrying like I did as a kid.

Also, that muscle memory. My little brother, and I discovered upon revisiting these old games that they were incredibly incredibly difficult, even by today’s standards. Basically, for a lot of them, the only way to do well let alone beat them with it develop some serious muscle memory.
