I wish so badly the USSR still existed, every time I read the stories of all those American women that fled there in the 20s and 30s... if only that was still an option today!

Tbf, I have a lot more stability and more stuff going on in my life here on Turtle Island now than I thought I ever would when I was 12 and I started finding those stories and feeling endlessly jealous of those women, and I've also got way stronger feelings against just showing up on the communist world's doorstep and taking advantage of a revolution my people didn't fight for, these days.

But sometimes I still wish it was the middle of the Cold War and I had a Good Reason to defect.

So I hear ya. I understand the fantasy. Sometimes it sure sounds a lot better than staying put and trying to build a new Bolshevik Party here.
