to me thats like saying the confederate flag doesnt mean anything, or even someone that is way too far right calling themselves a nazi.
it does mean something and there is historically a negative connotation with tankies, rightfully so in my opinion. it exudes some very poor ideologies the way i see it.
you can say it has lost meaning due to many opposed to communism calling anyone that criticises capitalism tankies, but identifying yourself as such is wild.
I already said I'm a communist, and no, that isn't "wild" to say. Socialism has consistently been successful in uplifting the working class, I want to continue and spread that. Liberals and fascists do have a negative connotation surrounding socialism, yes, but that's because socialism has successfully moved beyond capitalism and oppressed capital owners.
It's not at all like Nazis or confederates, because fascism and slavery are far-right, while socialism is far-left, and fascism and slavery have been tools to crush the working class while socialism has uplifted the working class.
i didnt say being a communist was bad, try rereading that or thinking for a minute. you used connotation very incorrectly i think, or at the very least not even close to what i was referencing to.
you should learn to read, and then research logical fallacies and what the terms mean that you call yourself or others.
"Tankie" just means communist, though, like "pinko" or "commie." It's a pejorative in the same way "boot" is a pejorative for the police and millitary, it doesn't refer to anything different. Some communists call themselves "tankie" as a tongue-in-cheek joke, but it isn't an actual subcategory of communist.
I do know how to read, and I'm aware of logical fallacies. I don't rely on telling others that they are too stupid to understand my points, because that's a cheap and lazy way to dodge arguments.
You are a fucking fool. You're telling the person who developed one of the best leftist reading lists out there (one that I doubt you've read a single book on it), the person who hosts the community reading group for Das Kapital, that they should "learn to read."
It's even more rich considering everything you've written is dripping with pretentious debate pervert cringe ("lOgIcAl fAlLaCiEs!" oh my god, stfu nerd ), yet you don't even know what the words you're using mean. Example: "it exudes some very poor ideologies"
Like the rest of us here, Cowbee knows what the fuck the word "tankie" means. We even know its history, originating as a term that some ultras used to deride specifically British communists who supported the Soviet's quelling of the 1956 anticommunist color revolution in Hungary. We are well aware of how it has transformed from that into a word used to demean anyone who recognizes Stalin as having been a pretty damn good leader or the DPRK as being the commendable bastion of anti-imperialism that they are, and from there to mean anyone on the left who is "bad." Seriously, I've seen anarchists called "tankies" for not sufficiently hating Putin. It is now meaningless drivel.
That said, I also personally am fine being labeled a tankie. It's literally no different than some drooling fucking chud calling me "woke" as if that's supposed to offend me. Like "woke," the word tankie is meant to be an insult, but everything the dipshit using it thinks is bad is in fact quite the opposite. In other words, anyone who uses it seriously is in fact a deeply unserious person. Your nonsensical comparison of it to a confederate flag (I mean really, wtf are you even talking about?) is far more insulting than the word itself.
If you think you are a leftist, you are in desperate need of education.
Identifying oneself as a communist makes you an enemy of the exact same people as identifying as a "tankie." Admittedly, I tell people IRL that I'm a socialist, I don't use either of the other terms IRL because neither are really relevant to anything I'm doing (and I don't think there's a great reason for others to use the term "tankie" in particular IRL) and they don't really communicate anything meaningful about my beliefs beyond what the word "socialist" conveys. But the idea that there's seriously a super different connotation between the terms is laughable.
That's like saying that identifying as a Trotskyist is not a good idea now that the online discourse has turned away from Trotskyism. No one who matters hates you because of what side of early 20th century communist debates you land on! They hate you because you have left wing politics, and in that sense we're all the same.
tankie.tube is a peertube instance for communists and other leftists to share videos.
I'm a communist, "tankie" is just a pejorative like "commie" or "pinko," it doesn't mean anything beyond "communist, but in a mean way."

but sir i must know your opinion on the crushing of the hungarian color revolution in 195X
