Ive seen that there are software you can download on web archive (archive.org), but it isnt listed in the megathread.

Should I suppose that it is as safe as it is downloading random stuff from the internet?

Yes, literally anyone can upload stuff to archive.org, so you should assume you're downloading random stuff from an unknown person on the internet and take precautions accordingly. :)

All uploads go through an AV scan, though. But yeah, better be safe than sorry.
