Searxng is technically the best privacy alternative m, anyone can host it including you. But if you rely on someone else hosting you cant truly know what they did to it.

But i do admit results suck often (and are different per instance), for actual useful search there are few proper alternatives.

Startpage is to google what duck is to bing. I consider them equivalents.

What i personally prefer are Bookmarks of trusted sources like wikipedia and any site you have an account on.

I rarely actually need search nowadays and to be honest when i do i often cant find good information anyway, just junk sites.

I have a bookmark for both a for privacy stripped google and bing for when i do (basically treat me as a fresh new user ever time) as secure as startpage and duck i presume.
