MODERATORS
I don't know about recommend over, but I found Axiom Verge and Hero Core both very enjoyable. Axiom Verge is impressive in particular for being a solo effort, and Hero Core is free.
So I tried axiom verge and wow we have different tastes in games.
It's bonkers hard and unpleasant to me because the controls are so awkward and the map so vague.
Defs nothing like what I enjoy in hollowknight which is the relaxed moodiness, chill wandering, and fluid controls.
