From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Linux is a family of open source Unix-like operating systems based on the Linux kernel, an operating system kernel first released on September 17, 1991 by Linus Torvalds. Linux is typically packaged in a Linux distribution (or distro for short).
Distributions include the Linux kernel and supporting system software and libraries, many of which are provided by the GNU Project. Many Linux distributions use the word "Linux" in their name, but the Free Software Foundation uses the name GNU/Linux to emphasize the importance of GNU software, causing some controversy.

I started with Mint, then tried Ubuntu, then Debian with the GNOME desktop environment, then Debian with the KDE Plasma desktop environment, before finally settling in on CachyOS. CachyOS makes it easy to get up and running with gaming and general work packages from their Hello startup utility, and I've had great Linux gaming experiences on CachyOS (currently enjoying Deadlock, No Man's Sky, and Hades II). I'd highly recommend you give CachyOS a shot!
Fresh Linux convert here, also settled on CachyOS and I'm having a similar experience. It was easy to get setup and haven't had any issues in running bigger games / multiple programs at the same time - second the recommendation!
+1 to CachyOS recommendation. Been daily driving on my RTX 4080 gaming rig for almost 2 years, no complaints.
