Reminds me that I've been reading Iron Council to round out the Bas-Lag trilogy and the whole series is just depressing as hell, taken as a whole. Which is really what makes it feel so real, in spite of all the fantastic elements.

I like all of them but I think even though the Iron Council is the commune one, I liked the Scar the best.
