If you think of distance in kilometers, houses in square feet, buying vegetables in kilograms, and your weight in pounds, you could be Canadian.
I think of my weight in kilograms. I have tried to move to thinking my home in sq metres but I haven’t really had reason to make the conversion. I had not yet decided to go metric everywhere yet when I bought my place so I have had no real reason to.
Square metres is pretty easy if you grew up with square feet, the convention factor is close enough to 10. When I was on the market for a home, I talked to my agent exclusively in m². Even though she's really not used to it, we communicated pretty well.
We divide land in hectares.
