Image is of Rixi Moncada of the LIBRE Party voting in the election.
On November 30th, Hondurans voted to choose their next President, as well as deputies to the Congress, councillors, and other candidates. Like all elections in Latin America, the looming shadow of American intervention will be a major factor in deciding the winner. In this election, that intervention has been fairly naked, with Trump literally stating who he wishes to win (the far-right nationalist guy, Nasry Asfura). Asfura has said that if he does not win, American funding to the country will dry up - a clear threat - and Trump has additionally pardoned the former Honduran president and US ally Juan Orlando Hernández, imprisoned for smuggling cocaine into the US.
The other candidates in this election are Salvador Nasralla of the Liberal Party, who is essentially running on the same platform as Asfura with some differences (such differences would inevitably vanish if he were to win); and Rixi Moncada of the progressive (self-described as democratic socialist) LIBRE Party. The narrative about this election is - try not to yawn - the neverending battle of democracy against communism. This narrative is obviously very important to uphold in the current environment of accelerated aggression against Venezuela, Colombia, Mexico, and others.
Who is going to win? As of me writing this sentence, the results have not yet been fully reported. However, there has been something of a scandal in regards to a plot - with recorded voices, though those guilty plead AI tampering - to show the best possible preliminary results for the right wing, so as to manipulate the narrative and morale of the population. The idea, is presumably, that if LIBRE were to win, the fascists could say "How did LIBRE go from 20% of the vote (which is what the preliminary results showed) to a victory?! It must be communist meddling!"
Of course, it's entirely possible that LIBRE won't win anyway, or get particularly close. We shall see how things turn out very shortly.

Moon of Alabama, which tends to have interesting analysis. Avoid the comment section.
Understanding War and the Saker: reactionary sources that have occasional insights on the war.
Alexander Mercouris, who does daily videos on the conflict. While he is a reactionary and surrounds himself with likeminded people, his daily update videos are relatively brainworm-free and good if you don't want to follow Russian telegram channels to get news. He also co-hosts The Duran, which is more explicitly conservative, racist, sexist, transphobic, anti-communist, etc when guests are invited on, but is just about tolerable when it's just the two of them if you want a little more analysis.
Simplicius, who publishes on Substack. Like others, his political analysis should be soundly ignored, but his knowledge of weaponry and military strategy is generally quite good.

WTF is going on honestly? The Liberal candidate not supported by Trump/US or the Left is going to win? Why is trump angry when the liberal guy said he wants to lick the US boots and help invade Venezuela?
Unfortunately, I don't really think there was a way for Libre to win. Honduras has been deeply compromised by the us for a long time, it's a borderline colony. Even if Libre won, there is no viable way to fight the propaganda war. The reason why the Liberal candidate is so popular is because he's a football reporter celeb. He's genuinely popular among the people. It sucks that he's completely spineless, but most of the public isn't keeping track. He talks in a way that sounds cool and that stands out over his collaboration with the fascists.
Because he enjoys his status as a celebrity so much, he is likely to do some good here and there, he will continue to flip flop a lot. Trump is right about him being unreliable, they're both very self-centered. Asfura is different, he's a nobody, he's not going to inconvenience anything.
I actually think it's better to accept a loss even if the people voted for Libre. Nasralla still has a huge fanbase and could mobilize them to strongly damage Libre's reputation in the name of his ego. Despite all the bots, gusanos, and whatnot(lmao at all the american, venezuelan, and cuban flags on twitter); Libre is not unpopular, I'm from one of the most westernized areas, Nasralla is clearly the most popular in the area, the reaction towards Libre is indifference or bitterness over real gains in popularity(without Nasralla, against Nasralla). It's unheard of for a thirdparty to be that popular(20% or higher, it can't be written off as Nasralla or Castro carrying the party anymore), comparable to the us gaining a viable thirdparty, this has shaken the ruling class and you see a lot of the propaganda claiming Libre isn't a viable party and that the structure is unshakable.
I'm not sure there's a strategy for Libre to win this election, but it is a real party that will likely stay. This is good for class consciousness and a leftist movement. Because of the 2017 results, both Nasralla and the people feel like they were robbed. The most suspicious part of these(and previous) elections is the national candidate being so high. If Libre accepts the loss and claims Nasralla won, the public will still have a decent opinion of them, maybe a better opinion of them. Nasralla's presidency will probably be mediocre, but his ego prevents him from the worst(and best). This will still be bad geopolitically, specifically for Venezuela, but Honduras probably won't be a real difference maker(I don't really know). I hope the Venezuelan people will be able to overcome the worst and not fall into catastrophe.
He'll probably have to negociate support from Libre since they have 34 seats in congress, probably will stop him from doing too much damage to the internal left-wing politics of Honduras.
It mostly just suck to lose another Venezuelan Ally.
Leftist Honduras couldnt really contribute anything significant, except in spirit and getting rid of the ancap islands. In general the latin american left is failing since they basically have to endure/navigate system designed to be against them. Only if they can abolish these institutions can they actually hold on and "do something", but requires the support of the military - which is as you know, pruned to be the vanguard of us imperialism.
Yeah, and even when the military support the left, theres always a traitor/pro-US faction within the army that sabotages revolutionary goverments, as seen in Peru under Gen. Velasco, Bolivia under Gen. J. J. Torres, Ecuador during the 2000 junta and Panama under Gen. Torrijos.
Venezuela is the sole exception here
