To the people of the United States of America, and to all those who, amid a flood of distortions and manufactured narratives, continue to seek the truth and aspire to a better life

Iran—by this very name, character, and identity—is one of the oldest continuous civilizations in human history. Despite its historical and geographical advantages at various times, Iran has never, in its modern history, chosen the path of aggression, expansion, colonialism, or domination. Even after enduring occupation, invasion, and sustained pressure from global powers—and despite possessing military superiority over many of its neighbors—Iran has never initiated a war. Yet it has resolutely and bravely repelled those who have attacked it.

The Iranian people harbor no enmity toward other nations, including the people of America, Europe, or neighboring countries. Even in the face of repeated foreign interventions and pressures throughout their proud history, Iranians have consistently drawn a clear distinction between governments and the peoples they govern. This is a deeply rooted principle in Iranian culture and collective consciousness—not a temporary political stance.

For this reason, portraying Iran as a threat is neither consistent with historical reality nor with present-day observable facts. Such a perception is the product of political and economic whims of the powerful—the need to manufacture an enemy in order to justify pressure, maintain military dominance, sustain the arms industry, and control strategic markets. In such an environment, if a threat does not exist, it is invented.

Within this same framework, the United States has concentrated the largest number of its forces, bases, and military capabilities around Iran—a country that, at least since the founding of the United States, has never initiated a war. Recent American aggressions launched from these very bases have demonstrated how threatening such a military presence truly is. Naturally, no country confronted with such conditions would forgo strengthening its defensive capabilities. What Iran has done—and continues to do—is a measured response grounded in legitimate self-defense, and by no means an initiation of war or aggression.

Relations between Iran and the United States were not originally hostile, and early interactions between the Iranian and American people were not marred with hostility or coup d’état—an illegal American 1953 intervention. The turning point, however, was the intervention aimed at preventing the nationalization of Iran’s own resources. That coup disrupted Iran’s democratic process, reinstated dictatorship, and sowed deep distrust among Iranians toward U.S. policies. This distrust deepened further with America’s support for the Shah’s regime, its backing of Saddam Hussein during the imposed war of the 1980s, the imposition of the longest and most comprehensive sanctions in modern history, and ultimately, unprovoked military aggression—twice, in the midst of negotiations—against Iran.

Yet all these pressures have failed to weaken Iran. On the contrary, the country has grown before the Islamic Revolution by 30% stronger in many areas: literacy rates have tripled—from roughly 30% to over 90% today; higher education has expanded dramatically; significant advances have been achieved in modern technology; healthcare services have improved; and infrastructure has developed at a pace and scale incomparable to the past. These are measurable, observable realities that stand independent of fabricated narratives.

At the same time, the destructive and inhumane impact of sanctions, war, and aggression on the lives of the resilient Iranian people must not be underestimated. The continuation of military aggression and recent bombings profoundly affect people’s lives, attitudes, and perspectives. This reflects a fundamental human truth: when war inflicts irreparable harm on lives, homes, cities, and futures, people will not remain indifferent toward those responsible.

This raises a fundamental question: Exactly which of the American people’s interests are truly being served by this war? Was there any objective threat from Iran to justify such behavior? Does the massacre of innocent children, the destruction of cancer-treatment pharmaceutical facilities, or boasting about bombing a country “back to the stone ages” serve any purpose other than further damaging the United States’ global standing?

Iran pursued negotiations, reached an agreement, and fulfilled all its commitments. The decision to withdraw from that agreement, escalate toward confrontation, and launch two acts of aggression in the midst of negotiations were destructive choices made by the U.S. government—choices that served the delusions of a foreign aggressor.

Attacking Iran’s vital infrastructure—including energy and industrial facilities—directly targets the Iranian people. Beyond constituting a war crime, such actions carry consequences that extend far beyond Iran’s borders. They generate instability, increase human and economic costs, and perpetuate cycles of tension, planting seeds of resentment that will endure for years. This is not a demonstration of strength; it is a sign of strategic bewilderment and an inability to achieve a sustainable solution.

Is it not also the case that America has entered this aggression as a proxy for Israel, influenced and manipulated by that regime? Is it not true that Israel, by manufacturing an Iranian threat, seeks to divert global attention away from its crimes toward the Palestinians? Is it not evident that Israel now aims to fight Iran to the last American soldier and the last American taxpayer dollar—shifting the burden of its delusions onto Iran, the region, and the United States itself in pursuit of illegitimate interests?

Is “America First” truly among the priorities of the U.S. government today?

I invite you to look beyond the machinery of misinformation—an integral part of this aggression—and instead speak with those who have visited Iran. Observe the many accomplished Iranian immigrants—educated in Iran—who now teach and conduct research at the world’s most prestigious universities, or contribute to the most advanced technology firms in the West. Do these realities align with the distortions you are being told about Iran and its people?

Today, the world stands at a crossroads. Continuing along the path of confrontation is more costly and futile than ever before. The choice between confrontation and engagement is both real and consequential; its outcome will shape the future for generations to come. Throughout its millennia of proud history, Iran has outlasted many aggressors. All that remains of them are tarnished names in history, while Iran endures—resilient, dignified, and proud

More than two-thirds of US citizens are calling for a quick end to Washington’s war against Iran, even if it means ditching its stated goals, a 31 March Reuters/Ipsos poll shows.

The survey of 1,021 adults found that 66 percent support ending US involvement quickly, while just 27 percent favor continuing military operations until all goals are achieved. Six percent did not respond.

Support for prolonging the war remains higher among Republicans than Democrats, though even there, a sizable 40 percent want a fast exit from the war even if their objectives for victory are not met.

At the same time, public opposition to US military action is growing. Around 60 percent said they disapprove of strikes on Iran, compared to 35 percent who support them.

Iran called the repeated US-Israeli attacks on its civilian infrastructure an attempt to cripple its economy, terrorize its people and a form of collective punishment prohibited in international and humanitarian law.

Iran called on the UN and other international bodies to ensure accountability for such serious and criminal violations and make efforts to end the war on the Iranian people.

In a letter to UN Secretary General António Guterres and President of the UN Security Council Michael G. Waltz on Monday, March 30, Iran registered strong opposition to US-Israeli attacks on its major steel production sites and other infrastructure in the country.

It also reiterated its right to defend itself and retaliate under article 51 of the UN Charter.

The US and Israel have increased the targeting of civilian infrastructure in Iran by indiscriminately bombing its residential areas, universities, schools, hospitals, factories, water supply systems, dairy plants, and historical and religious buildings.

More than 300 health centers, 760 schools and over 90,000 residential units have been hit in US-Israeli attacks on Iran since February 28, the Iranian Red Crescent Society (IRCS) said on Tuesday.

In recent attacks on Tuesday, various locations in Tehran and Isfahan were targeted. Later, Israel claimed it had hit the Imam Hossein University in Tehran. Iran said that a US-Israeli strike targeted Rooya amusement park in Isfahan as well.

US-Israeli strikes also targeted and destroyed a pharmaceutical company known to be producing cancer medicine in Tehran in early morning attacks on Tuesday, apart from targeting Hosseinieh Azam, a religious site in northwestern city of Zanjan.

According to Press TV, at least three people were killed and a dozen others sustained injuries in the attack in Zanjan.

These “deliberate attacks against civilian infrastructure in Iran constitute a grave act of state terrorism, in violation of international law, including international humanitarian law, thereby underscoring a pattern of conduct aimed at undermining the basic living conditions of civilians,” Iran’s letter said.

Iran will end the war after all its conditions are met

Over 2,000 people have been killed and over 25,000 others have been injured in the US-Israeli strikes in Iran since February 28. Millions of Iranians have also been displaced due to indiscriminate US-Israeli bombings targeting residential areas in Tehran and in other major cities in the country.

Scores of Israeli citizens, US soldiers, and residents in Persian Gulf countries have also been killed and thousands have been injured in Iranian retaliations.

Meanwhile, Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian, in a cabinet meeting on Monday, reiterated that Iran will decide to end the war only after taking into account all its stated conditions and “within the framework of ensuring the dignity, security and interests of the great Iranian nation,” Tasnim News Agency reported.

He was responding to US President Donald Trump’s repeated threats against Iran.

Trump, in his latest social media post on X on Monday, continued to issue threats claiming to destroy Iran’s Kharg Island, power plants, oil hubs, and other infrastructure if it fails to make a deal soon.

However, Esmail Baghaei, spokesperson of the Iranian Ministry of Foreign Affairs reiterated on Monday that there are no direct talks with the US. The 15-point US proposal received through Pakistan earlier is “excessive, unrealistic and irrational”, he claimed.

Remove US bases from the region

Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi reiterated his demand for the removal of all US forces and military bases as their presence brings nothing but war and instability to the region.

He reminded the governments in the Persian Gulf region that Iranian retaliations are not aimed at them but at Washington’s armed forces located in these countries.

“Our operations are aimed at enemy aggressors who have no respect for Arabs or Iranians, nor can provide any security,” Araghchi said in a post on X on Monday, citing the recent Iranian attacks on Washington’s central Saudi Arabia military base, destroying one of its key aircrafts.

The US has used its multiple military bases in Jordan and Persian Gulf countries such as Bahrain, Qatar, UAE, Saudi Arabia, and Kuwait to launch attacks on Iran. In retaliation Iran has attacked these bases and other targets in these countries.

Iranian retaliations have invited strong objections from governments in the region, which have failed to condemn the use of their territories by the US to attack Iran.

Thomson Reuters, the media company which is also a data broker, has long provided underlying personal data for Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) tools, according to documents obtained by 404 Media and sources. There are also indications its data is now part of the Palantir system ICE uses to find which neighborhoods to target.

The findings draw a clearer line between Thomson Reuters’ data business—which can involve selling names, addresses, car registration information, Social Security numbers, and details on someone’s ethnicity under the brand name CLEAR—and the specific tools ICE is ingesting the data into. The news also comes after Thomson Reuters employees sent leadership a signed letter expressing their unease with the company’s ICE and Department of Homeland Security (DHS) contracts, the Minnesota Star Tribune reported last month.

“If these allegations are true, they cut directly against Thomson Reuters’ claims that its products and services are limited to fighting serious crime and are not facilitating deportations,” Emma Pullman, head of shareholder engagement and responsible investment for the B.C. General Employees’ Union (BCGEU), told 404 Media. BCGEU is a minority shareholder in Thomson Reuters and has recently engaged the company concerning its work with ICE, BCGEU said.

An internal Palantir wiki 404 Media obtained explained Homeland Security Investigations (HSI), a part of ICE that used to be focused on criminal investigations but has now shifted to immigration enforcement, used a Palantir-built system called FALCON before moving onto an HSI internal tool. A former Palantir employee has since told 404 Media Thomson Reuters’ CLEAR specifically was used in that FALCON system.

In 2025 Palantir said it became a “more mature partner to ICE” when the company started work on other systems during Trump’s mass deportation effort. That included a tool called Enhanced Leads Identification & Targeting for Enforcement, or ELITE, 404 Media revealed in January. ELITE populates a map with potential deportation targets, brings up a dossier on each person, and provides a “confidence score” on the person’s current address. An ICE official testified about using the tool before officials detained more than 30 people which lawyers have described as a “dragnet.”

Internal ICE material showed ELITE got these addresses from various sources, including government agencies such as the Department of Health and Human Services (HHS). The material also said a source of the addresses was “CLEAR.”

Two Department of Homeland Security (DHS) sources believe the material refers to Thomson Reuters’ CLEAR. “I have to think it’s the same CLEAR,” one said. 404 Media granted several sources in this story anonymity as they weren’t permitted to speak to the press about these topics.

Thomson Reuters data is also mentioned in documentation about Mobile Companion, an app made by Motorola for querying license plate scans. ICE recently sent a message to all ICE Enforcement and Removal Operations (ERO) staff, who are focused on deportations specifically, about the tool, 404 Media previously reported. The material sent to ICE said users can further enhance their investigations by combining Motorola’s license plate reader network with Thomson Reuters’ data. “Thomson Reuters CLEAR combines comprehensive public and proprietary data with nationwide license plate data from Motorola Solutions’ secure shared data network to help take vehicle-involved investigations to a more precise level,” the material said.

404 Media made multiple attempts to get Thomson Reuters to comment for this story. Originally, Thomson Reuters said it would provide information “on background” over email, but then noted the background information would be material “you can use to inform your article but not attribute to Thomson Reuters.” 404 Media explained that, like many publications, “on background” to us means we could paraphrase the information and attribute it to the company. Thomson Reuters then said, “We do not agree with your definition of ‘on background’ and therefore are unable to address the misstatements we believe you may make in your story” and ultimately refused to comment.

In procurement documents available online, DHS says “CLEAR is vital to the mission-essential, time sensitive investigative work of several DHS Components as it makes it easier to locate people, assets, businesses, affiliations, and other critical facts.”

“Without this data, DHS would not be able to identify targets associated with criminal enterprise, terrorism, and immigration fraud as rapidly,” the documents add.

Those documents show CLEAR’s data can include a person’s name, address, date of birth, phone records, driver license, motor vehicle registrations, Social Security number, marital status, household information such as their household members, and details on their public social media.

In March the Minnesota Star Tribune reported it had spoken to half a dozen Thomson Reuters employees mostly based in Eagan, home to one of the company’s largest U.S. offices, and where many of the employees’ jobs relate to CLEAR. “People are worried about the role their job has played in what has happened,” one employee reportedly said, referring to Operation Metro Surge, the DHS operation focused on Minnesota in which officials killed Renée Good and Alex Pretti. The outlet reported around 180 workers sent Thomson Reuters leadership a letter expressing their unease and asking about the company’s supervision of its DHS and ICE contracts. The New York Times later reported more than 200 employees had signed the letter.

The Minnesota Star Tribune also quoted an internal Thomson Reuters message from Kevin Appold, the company’s vice president for projects and U.S. public records. “We prohibit customers from using CLEAR to identify or locate undocumented immigrants who have not committed crimes,” it said.
