Revenge is 100% a social-emotional pathology, that's not what I'm talking about. I'm talking about how one fairs in terms of thinking on their feet talking to these people, that intellectual respect can put your expectations so out of wack (see your "generosity") that when they surprise you with how terrible they are, it can throw you off.
