I read a comic published from 1983 or so where tony stark was drunk and erratic. He absolutely isn't modeled after musk. He's got the charm of a wet box. Rdj's ironman precense is always felt for better or worse, musk has the charisma of a soggy loaf of bread

Tony Stark was always a shit character, the only storyline that was good was Demon in a Bottle. It's amazing that a B-lister Marvel superhero got so famous.

I think I gave myself a dare. It was the height of the Cold War. The readers, the young readers, if there was one thing they hated, it was war, it was the military ... So I got a hero who represented that to the hundredth degree. He was a weapons manufacturer, he was providing weapons for the Army, he was rich, he was an industrialist ... Stan Lee was a huge capitalist, no wonder he'd make such a character. I think it's telling as to the current state of affairs that for the last ten years one of the most popular media characters was a incorrigible bastard billionaire that sold weapons for war.
