Even if they were live streaming that they were smuggling drugs with their exact location, the US doesn't get to play judge jury and executioner in international waters.

The US Navy knows exactly what narcos look like and their typical routes. I'm sure they were running drugs, but this is still murder.
You say that with a level of confidence that I don't think is warranted. If there is so much certainty that these people were running drugs, why is evidence of it never released?
Just because they know what narcos look like¹ doesn't mean that's what these are.
