Can you please ELI5 what GOP and MAGA mean?
GOP stands for "Grand Old Party", which is a nickname for the Republican Party in the United States.
MAGA is an acronym which stands for "Make America Great Again", and was used by Trump during his run for the presidency. It has since been used to indicate those that follow Trump and his policies.
Just to further clarify, MAGA was originally used by Ronald Reagan (and later Bill Clinton).... it's just another thing recycled by the orange guy who has no ideas of his own.
To clarify even further, there was a failed painter in 1930s Germany who ran on the same slogan (except "Deutschland" not "America"). Also used the whole "fake news" thing (or "lugenpresse" in that case)
...I wonder how things turned out with that guy.
MAGA has traditionally stood for "Make America Great Again," but I suspect after this year it might change to either:
Make Attorneys Get Attorneys
or
My Ass Got Arrested
GOP = Republican Party
MAGA = Trumpists traitor branch of the party
To be clear, the GOP is also heavily composed of traitors.
Sure, but the GOP is merely a traitor to the American people. MAGA tops that by being traitor even to the GOP.
But not in an "enemy of my enemy is my friend" sort of way. Not in the slightest.
Got it. Thanks.
Grand old party (Republicans)
Make America great again (Trump fans)
