Any open war is an absolute worst thing any country can do.
And by opening a conflict, it makes the other side automatically looking better. Irregardless of any history or precedens.
Specially if it drags for years. Just go back and let it be.
Just go home and let those guys keep bombing their own citizens, they'll figure it out on their own
And don't even get me started on intervening with a country commiting active genocide, that's their business

Provide aid to those affected, open corridors so people can run away, but never start a full scale war.
