I know why many people prefer Minecraft Java Edition, but I prefer Bedrock. Java, as a language, is so bloated and terrible that I can't get behind it.
The Microtransactions, excessive bugs, inability to install free and open community mods, and performance loss aren't dealbreakers?
I get that C++ is largely better for game development. But Java edition is the better game that got the player experience right.
I don't play with mods, never buy anything with micro transactions, and performance tends to be better for me than Java.
Also, I play it with my kids, who have Android tablets, so I'm kind of stuck playing Bedrock anyway if I want them to join me.
You actually do have the geyser compatibility plugin for Bedrock clients to join Java Edition servers (also community optimization mods that allow the game to run circles around default Bedrock performance). But I guess if you've got family, that does kind of tie your hands, since you want to streamline stuff for kids.
