Capitalism creates generational poverty.
Generational poverty breeds desperation.
Desperation leads to self-destructive behaviors, broken families, fractured communities, isolation, crime, child abuse, etc.
Capitalism creates prisons, nonprofit industrial complex, big pharm, etc. to profit from the desperation.
It's a never-ending cycle.
One reason for this may be the fact that prisons in the US are run as a business, with private companies earning billions and therefore having an interest in ensuring that there are as many inmates as possible.
