I'm really glad to see Linux gaining some attention, even though I'm not a g*mer. The day Linux has constant day one releases alongside Windows will really be something.

It certainly seems to be looking better than ever. Proton and the steam deck seem to have really motivated particularly the indie scene to look to Linux even if just for that market. Though the number of native builds not relying on proton is still a little disappointing.

I think it's better than native Linux builds especially if the studio doesn't have the expertise in house to actually do a good job. Linux ABI compatibility is a pain.

It can be a pain if you're doing all the coding yourself in a non X-Platform language, but I think(?) that's not very common nowadays.

My real frustration is when Indie devs literally use like Gamemaker, Unity, Unreal, Godot, etc and these tools basically all come with very functional native Linux binary export functions, but they don't bother.

KSP has a native linux version, but the windows version run through proton works better
