The shooter was 18 and hasn't been in school for four years, so he left when he was 14. All of the kids he killed were 12 or 13 so 4 years ago they were 8 or 9, which is Grade 3/4. I highly doubt a 14 yr old went on a rampage because he was bullied by Grade 3/4 kids four years ago.

The tragedy is that he was very obviously VERY mentally ill. If you've seen the video of him sitting in a dark room and laughing maniacally while filming himself, its painfully clear. Which is why the police made several visits to his household for mental wellness checks and why they took away the guns in the house. The big question is why the gun were allowed to be returned when he was obviously still not well. He made posts on reddit about his confusion, aimlessness and the drugs he was taking and it was clear he was very unbalanced so why did the guns go back?

And dont get on me for calling him a he. Because his mom called him a he when she posted, 'Please watch my son's videos on youtube, its mostly how he shares' AFTER he started to transition. So did his biological father when he posted that he was not allowed to be part of his son's life after his mother cut him out of their lives. Don't pretend you know more than the parents of an obviously mentally unbalanced child.

There are lots of people crying 'why didnt the mom get him help' but you also have to note that Tumbler Ridge only has 2400 residents and the equivalent of 1.5 family doctors. The local medical center is shut down regularly because there is no doctor available on duty. So I highly doubt there was a trained psychiatrist in town, let alone one who specializes in child psychology. A kid this messed up would need to be in a psych ward for extended treatment. The nearest larger city is still 1.5 hours away and with a single mom with 5 kids, Im sure the idea of getting him there would've been extremely difficult. It's a tragedy all the way around, its just very sad that so many innocent kids and the mom had to die and so many families will grieve this the rest of their lives.

May they all rest in peace and the families receive some solace that there are thousands of people thinking and caring about them.
