Can we at least recognize that the protests worked? If we’re gonna critique discord when it’s bad, we should at least celebrate when they listen to the protesting users.
They're still doubling down on age verification, they're just using a different sketchy company to do so.
But using k-id has been validated by third parties to NOT leave your device.
Do you really think we can count on that to persist?
We know tech companies lie if they can get away with it and the fashies are destroying all of the checks and balances that would prevent them getting away with it
And I have a bridge to sell you.
They only changed providers for the same unforgivable mistake.
They still want your driver's license, to use fancy IRC.
But using k-id has been validated by third parties to NOT leave your device.
I don't give a shit and neither should you.
They didn't listen at all. We don't want id verification. Period. Full stop.
Switching from terrible to potentially less terrible isn't listening.
