Speed Dreams is a TORCS fork, and started on its own way on 2008 . You can find it (lastest stable) on Flatpak package, and also in debs for Debian and Ubuntu.
Never heard of it before, would have been nice to see in the appstore.
Will try it out once its on one.
It was once known as TORCS, and several distributions had it available.
It's quite complex to build now (physics engines, AI, etc), so I suppose many distros don't package it.
Appimage should work fine. Just give it executable permission.
