I had two different reactions to your comment simultaneously.
First, yeah the meme is political but you went hard on the American angle. But the image is of israel, it says israel in two places, it's joking about the pope which is not an american thing, and then it mentions the name of a dead american.
Second, I just don't think Lemmy has enough users and enough content to be picky and granular about categorizing all memes into the appropriate community. And that's before we even get into the realities of federation and how there could be multiple active "memes@*" communities.
First yeah sorry, I agree this one is more political than American, I guess I'm asking if I can expect to see more American and political memes in this community in general
I 100% get why you think this, Lemmy is for the most part dead, there's maybe 30 or so 'active' communities and then participation drops off pretty hard and fast, and the few active comms are left wing progressive/Linux/Queer related, not like Hobbies/random things to discuss, there's almost 0 niche comms here
But my biggest problem is that despite the tiny size I feel like we're making it even worse by throwing American political shit in with everything

it's something the politicians are doing. i get why it's something folk want to lump in as politics, as it's one of those things that feels so large we as individuals don't seem to be able to affect. i want a break from it too. if i could go one day where i can log on the internet, do my favorite things and not see both the orange pedoslug's and epstein's faces it would be a very good and restful day. today is not that day.
And businessmen, and entertainment stars, and many others. It's not going to get an Oscar because of that.
