I don't disagree but the "grey area" is weird if if capcom decided "actually no we want everyone to hate him and if you thought he was changing for the better you were wrong" at the eleventh hour and think everyone should hate just him. Honestly Awoo's take seems completely unserious if you think about this even slightly undiegeticly. Whats so cool about this that it would make you want to play as this guy if you think this creepy? Capcom would really risk doing this to a protagonist for the luls? If you don't think its creepy this is basically everything you could want out of his character and the reaction has been far more mixed within japan...
As a final note to all this why would someone like Alex of all people not openly and knowingly be a creep if this is supposed to be creepy to the streetfighter universe??? Imagine thinking this guy would give a fuck lmao even if was true it would be bad writing that should not be welcomed. Such a lazy and dismissive take for no reason. I really didn't need to see this outside of reddit. The only other people I see with congratultory/dismissive takes on this outside of Japan are weebs so maybe thats why?
I don't think I can take her media Analysis seriously after this.
Yeah, I think it's a pretty open-and-shut "the people who wrote this are creeps who are trying to appeal to creeps" and anything else is bizarre cope and/or a complete inability to analyze media. The only ambiguity is in questions that don't matter like "Did the writers think this is normal because of their own brainrot or are they just pandering?" but a creep is a creep so it hardly matters unless you're trying to stage a personal intervention in their lives so they don't do more of this shit.
