VOTING HAS STARTED

You can now vote for this week's challenge!

  • Voting will be open for at least 24 hours.
  • Whichever entry gets the most votes, wins!
  • OP will cast deciding vote in case of tie
  • Voting will end when OP declares a winner.

Theme

If you could pull back the curtain and reveal the hidden truth, what would you see? For this week's challenge you should create an image that strips away the pretense and exposes the raw, unfiltered essence of a person, place, or idea. What lies behind the veil?

Voting process

Everyone can submit their image to this post. At the end of the week all images will be collected and shared in a new voting post wherein people can vote on their favorite image. This will be up for at least 24 hours before a winner is made.

There are no extra points to be earned; OP will decide on a winner in case of a tie.

Rules

  • Follow the community’s rules above all else
  • One comment and image per user
  • Embed image directly in the post (no external link)
  • Workflow/Prompt sharing encouraged but not required (we’re all here for fun and learning)
  • OP will declare winner in case of a tie
  • The challenge runs for about a week.
  • Downvotes will not be counted
  • Voting and final scoring will be done in a separate post.

Scores

At the end of the challenge the image with the most votes, wins!

The winner gets to pick the next theme. As always, have fun everyone!

On a side note, I think this will be the last challenge we'll be holding for a while. I've noticed that interest has waned, and it definitely becomes harder and harder to come up with a new theme.

Of course if someone else wants to take over, they're more than welcome to continue the weekly challenges :)
But I'll be taking an extended break for a while.

i was on horde for a while now. Lately wait times got too long and my prompts started dropping. It became practically impossible to work on an idea. Hence my absence from the community. Not that my interest has waned but i have to find another way to restart working on aigen.

I will be installing a local generator soon (or i may just join civitai).

Any advices that do not include "big tech" services?

Thanks for you work keeping the community active. But indeed, there is less contribution, and thinks got so much easier compared to good old time where you had to setup comfyui, find lora and so on

I know what you mean. To me it seems like the better and easier these models become, the less interesting the images seem to get.
Half the fun was in the weird and unexpected stuff that would roll out from time to time, but a lot of these models are too well trained to allow for that nowadays.

Also, I think I'm just kind of tapped out of creative ideas on what I would want to see. It's like you have a digital camera for the first time in your life. You can and will take pictures of everything you see, but after taking the umpteenth picture of a nice flower, or pretty sunset, you feel the novelty wearing off and you sour on it for a while. I'm sure I'll get some new ideas with time, but for now I'm happy taking a break :)

Thanks for keeping it going as long as you did! I know the overhead was more than nothing, and since you likely won’t get a raise anytime soon, I guess we can allow a break. ;)

I do agree, it’s getting harder to come up with new ideas. We’ll have to get creative.

As far as interest, yeah seems a bit quiet lately. I’m in the process of starting up a business and hardly have time to do anything. That’s my story and I’m sticking to it.

It also doesn’t help that Lemmy is still a pretty small platform. And the other problem is there is so much hate for ai here. Which is pretty funny considering how many people are actually paying for it.

Anyway, good luck internet friend and thanks for running it this whole time!

You're most welcome, I had a lot of fun over these past two years (yes, it's been that long at least :)

Like I said in another comment, I feel that the novelty of easy access to just seeing whatever you want to see is wearing off. It will take more time for a creative idea to pop up that can be interesting enough for someone to want to actually post it. Which is a good thing in the end, we're just raising the bar on what we would actually like to share :)

The AI haters are a thing, but I don't care about them, as long as they stay out of this community.

Anyway, I'm not leaving or anything, just taking a break from hosting the challenges. Maybe I'll think of something fun and post here again, in the mean time I'll work on my awful drawings :)
