Late stage capitalism, I did not like that term but since the beginning of last year I started to understand it and read up on the topic. We need to jump into socialism faster!
We printed 40% more money supply during Covid debasing peoples salaries.
We did mass immigration into an existing housing shortage as corporations lobbied for cheap labor, to depress wages after we had inflation from the aforementioned money printing.
We now buy half of all mortgage bonds to make borrowing cheaper to further drive up asset prices, as Carney just announced he is buying up unsold condos in Ontario at an inflated price using borrowed public money.
So did capitalism do any of this, or do we keep voting in corrupt governments who continue debasing peoples salaries, enriching those holding inflation resistant assets like real estate and equities?
Has Canada been speaking to Australia about going full lucky country?
Never go full lucky country.
Welcome to waking life! 🎉
I have been pro socialism for most of my life, even before I knew what it was. I was born and raised in Saskatchewan, an area that relies on socialism even if the majority of the population lean to the right.
Careful not to get too attached to the "late stage" part. Odds are the system will burn everything to the ground and save itself a la WWI/II.
I hope capitalism burns its self to the ground, and we are forced to rethink things. I hope it does not require the whole war part but Trump, Putin, and their friends are forcing us into a global war.
I doubt anything will be called WWIII because the Old Testament, you know the book all the abrahamic religions are based on, says there will be 3 world wars and the third will be the war to end all life. The academics says we are past WWIII though, Some even saying we are past WWIV. However getting all the higher ups from all the abrahamic religions to agree on anything is next to impossible, some still follow the Old Testament, some follow the New Testament, some follow the Koran, I am not sure if multiple follow the watch tower, and some follow the vibes and feels of their leaders.
Amen. A few of us been developing understanding over the last little while. Some might say develiping .. class consciousness.
I was listening to a lecture on meritocracy and how it lead to higher disparities than pre-desegregation black-white divide. The lecturer made the point that there are very few peaceful examples for unwinding the level of inequality that exists today - like the post-Great Depression US under FDR.
