Just got the DLC that allows for the 'Shared Burdens' feature to make a more proper communist empire. After having played two games where I lost pretty handily to the crisis, I finally understand how the economy works and am on my third go. Funnily enough, I started right next to a system named Sol, with appropriate humans inhabiting, and I've had fun playing around with that: my first go through with that save I tried to let them be their own thing, this time I just took over.
