Wait, sit and observe the voice in your head!? That's just a part of the joke, right? Because that voice is you?
I mean, the voice is you, but you can still observe it. To me it seems that I consist of several parts that chat, often also with each other (and often they are fighting). I am all of them, but I do not continually consciously choose what they say, so I can observe them.
I think that is what is meant here. Or maybe I am just really weird.
