You seen to have a better grasp of the facts of the case. so you have me there.

You could have a male responsible for the majority of the offspring if they are mostly sterile. That would imply a hive structure. In that case you would expect the gerudo to have colonies in other regions if they exchange the males. Since we don't have data on other populations we can't be sure what the greater trial structure is.
