Eh not really in my opinion the Bajorans explicitly became more moderate in their religious outlook, abandoning their rigid caste system out of pragmatism for instance

But i guess these makes them better comparisons to Palestinians where even the more Islamist groups like Hamas seem to be less fundamentalist than Wahhabis for example and are willing to work with secular communists

Kai Wynn represented the fundamentalists and she won the election.

The Circle was a fundamentalist group and they had control over the Vedek council for a while.

The entire planet is governed by a religious body.
