Many people are able to (correctly) point out that Trump and his confidants are near-pathological liars but miss that they are just sloppy about it and that the US’s ruling class is virtually all like this. Whether in service of Empire or their own legacies, they will lie through their teeth to reach a desired conclusion, only to then project it on le perfidious See-See-Pee and now the Eye-Are-Gee-See.
The Dems are doing a full court press on protecting Israel this year, between what you mentioned the Clintons are doing, the sudden renewed interest in Hasan by mainstream media, the Schumer vote to protect Israel aid, and more.
I think it's the fact that they are afraid they're going to fumble what should be the easiest mid-term in history because of the Palestine issue. The fact that a record number of Democratic senators voted against aid to Israel shows that they are aware of where popular sentiment is going, especially with Israel being obviously connected to this unpopular war in a way even the politically illiterate can see, but that's not what the blue politicians (or their donors) want or believe.
So now they have to juggle this weird line where they're totally against war, but also try to sheepdog everyone back into liking Israel and the imperial US project as a whole. At least that's my theory.
Politics in the USA is weird, given how it’s not a democracy at the federal level, but all the politicians and everyone in mainstream media pretends it is.
This leads to carefully prepared marketing campaigns to keep the status quo.
I think these announcements are not because democrats are in danger of loosing the midterms, because it’s their turn to win, and they will have major victories ( they would win each time if votes in all states were counted in front of witnesses and not hidden by software patents).
But it’s to diminish any honest discussion about Israel, because a discussion about that will lead to other things being talked about more openly.
