Not for mainstream or big topics, but I am noticing more and more that when I search certain niche terms that abundant links to fediverse posts and discussions are popping up near the top of the results. It is also noteworthy how indepth and abundant fediverse results are when you include in your search engine query something like "fediverse". When I do this I get pages and pages of salient results from the fediverse when for similar terms without "fediverse' included things collapse into SEO nonsense after the first 20 results or so typically.

It is pretty cool to see, especially since even though I am biased I can confidently say the fediverse links are usually the most informative of the google search results.

It also seems like google will often index a post from an instance from a different instance's perspective which is a bit confusing but also does immediately expose people to the multipolar aspect of the fediverse.

I think it is worth emphasizing this and owning it as a strength here, especially in a day and age where the marketing around AI sucks all the oxygen out of the room in portraying AI as superior to human knowledge and conversations I think we should absolutely be pointing at search engine results and how the fediverse seems to excel at producing information that search engine rankings position highly... and not for bullshit SEO reasons.... and celebrating that.

It means WE are the internet not Google, not Meta, not OpenAI, WE are the creators of value.

I know you all know that, but it is still worth reiterating. Try it for yourself, try searching some specific search terms in google/other search engines and tell me what you notice!

For example search "Iran War" in google and then "Iran War sopuli.xyz" or some other fediverse instance name and compare the quality of depth of results. Note when doing this you don't just get results for the instance you searched, you will get results from all over the fediverse. Also note how the results will go on for pages and pages and pages with quality results.
