Bryon Noem's life choices are nobody's business: he hurts no-one and he doesn't cost the taxpayer anything.

Unlike his bitch wife: you want to bash a Noem? Concentrate on Kristi. She's the one who needs to pay for her crimes.

You would never have heard of her unusual husband, were it not for the very public disgrace of that terrible woman. I say give the guy a fucking break already.

“Guys stop being mean to the Nazi’s husband! We have no way of knowing what his personal views are! He only married a Nazi, supports the Nazi’s actions, and continues to be married to a Nazi even though he could file for divorce whenever he wants! He didn’t actually say he was a Nazi himself, so we can’t assume he is one!”

George Conway may want a word.

If you marry a nazi you are not deserving of grace.

I’m quite watchful of using the word Nazi to mean “person whose politics I find abhorrent and upon whom I’ve declared open season for any kind of treatment including violent death.”

Because ever since the whole “punch a nazi” thing started the word has drifted that way.

But even I have to admit that she meets the description. She’s the one who sent masked thugs into liberal cities to drag Hispanic people out of their homes, imprison, torture, deport or kill them. Yeah. This isn’t some celebrity who said an anti-trans thing. The whole ICE shebang, alligator Alcatraz, Renee Good shot in the face. All that shit was her.

There’s never been a season of state sponsored terror in modern America like the one she pulled. On the poor people of Minneapolis worst of all. Antifa revolt in fucking Minnesota was not on my bingo card but she said “that’s a bingo!” to it.

I mean I get it but they married in 1992. She was first elected in 2006.

[-] FrostyTheDoo@lemmy.world 14 points 1 week ago

I wonder what year she shot the innocent dog to death?

[-] h4x0r@lemmy.dbzer0.com 12 points 1 week ago

Dang, since you have to stay married to people even if they "turn" into a nazi I concede.

Quit being mean to the nazi's husband guys, he has no choice in the matter.

I mean does it sound like they're getting along? Lol

As a trans person, if I woke up to the sudden 180 realization that my life of hatred was based on internalized transmisogyny and the woman I married was a big part of why, I'd probably do something pretty similar! It's fairly jarring even without that context

I suspect Crystal will level out into a reasonable divorcee in a year or so, but who knows? The Alchemy of the Self is a tumultuous process, and the public eye can't be helpful

I highly doubt Kristi Noem was hardcore MAGA before the orange utan offered her the job in exchange for blind obedience. But she certainly was the immoral politician willing to do anything for power. Just like Rubio: they're all turncoats first and foremost.

Whether you think Bryon Noem demonstrates a character flaw and moral turpitude by marrying a power-hungry woman, and whether he should be punished for it, is up to you.

[-] UnspecificGravity@piefed.social 6 points 1 week ago

You might want to take thirty seconds to research that before you say it again. She was a hardcore right wing politician before Trump ever ran for office.

[-] LordMayor@piefed.social 11 points 1 week ago

He could have left at any time. I see no evidence that he was coerced into staying with a shallow, conservative, violent hate monger.

[-] FlashMobOfOne@lemmy.world 0 points 1 week ago* (last edited 1 week ago)

Not exactly accurate.

His choices compromised a highly-placed government official. His private life is and should be fodder for exposure.

Not into kink shaming myself (and frankly, I wish more people would safely indulge their kinks), but when your actions can (and probably did) compromise a government official, it's news.

[-] ExtremeDullard@piefed.social 1 points 1 week ago

The only one who compromised Kristi Noem is Kristi Noem. If her husband puts party balloons under his shirt and it stays in their bedroom, I don't see how that impacts the horrors she did.

I admit that I would have been willing to throw Bryon Noem under the bus to get to his wife and oust her faster, because the good of the country and the poor people she unlawfully got arrested, deported and killed outweigh the good of that one man. But now that she's out of office, Bryon Noem should be out of the limelight.

[-] FlashMobOfOne@lemmy.world 0 points 1 week ago* (last edited 1 week ago)

That is incorrect.

I, too, want to live in a world where no one gives a damn about this shit, but that's simply not the world we live in, and to pretend otherwise is foolishly naive. Bryon's choices could affect Kristi Noem's if his secrets were held over her head. (And I'd imagine they probably were, given his evident lack of discretion.)

It is what it is.

[-] stankcheez@lemmy.world 2 points 1 week ago

I don't care one way or the other WRT to what Bryon Noem does in the bedroom, but it's odd to me that there's been so much attention to his "indiscretions" that until recently were kept under wraps, when his wife has been openly cuckolding him with Corey Lewandowski for years ("the worst-kept secret in D.C."). IIRC she was asked about it under oath during congressional testimony while Bryon sat right next to her, and she did not deny it.

It's telling that he's catching all of the media attention for going outside their marriage because he's into something seen as kinky, while the media has largely ignored his wife's affair because it is presumably more vanilla. Regardless, she's been operating with arguably less discretion than him for a LONG time, and is every bit as guilty of exposing herself to blackmail or other potential influence.
