Vietnam is just following China's path of rapid growth, appease Amerikkka as much as possible in hopes of gaining investments and technological transfers for cheap Vietnamese labour. High corruption will follow and they will probably need a Xi like leader in the future to emphasize stamping out corruption.

I hope you're right but this actually relies on a Xi figure getting power and carrying it out.

What happens if that does not happen? Where would China be today without Xi?

I don't think there's a guarantee that such a figure will get to power to play that role and that concerns me.

Ya... I feel like China got lucky with Xi. They could've easily ended up with a line of revisionists, like the USSR. But if Vietnam doesn't, I think it indicates that they set up their society correctly to account for this. I heard they study Marxism pretty hard in schools from Luna Oi, so I have some hope, though.

China already has the tech and capital to provide a better partner for that relationship by now. Although I don't believe China is actually offering it.
