No they didnt. They were a co-op. One of the guys may have been a sex pest and committed suicide, and the rest of the team didn't want to keep working under that legacy and reformed into a new thing. Which fell apart because Scott Benson (The primary artist/animator) got sick.

If it helps at all Scott Benson is still extremely active on social media, he just doesn't draw anything any more.
I don't know how his heart conditions allows him to be on a 365 day/year road trip and do urban exploration but not hold a pen, but good for him for being able to retire early honestly.
