Visiting London for a few days, and noticed a lot of half-mast flags: red cross on a white background (reminiscent of some crusaders, Templars?) any symbolism behind them being shredded? Its a lot of them, must have cost a ton of money…

They've been put up by racists to support the systematic demonisation of migrants and people they see as "foreign"

We don't like racism in this country but the flags help the racists normalise it so when it comes to an election it can be a talking point instead of the blatant racism that it is.

The flag idea was sponsored by a certain party of people who have REFORMed themselves into a political party.
