Your average blue collar worker is the high school jock/bully that never amounted to anything else in life. They just want to be told it's ok to call people gay slurs, hate anything to do with trans people, and look funny at anyone whose skin color is different than their own even if they deny that in public.

Oh and any conflict should be resolved with violence of course

all it takes to get somebody to vote against their self-interests is to rile them up and tell them what they want to hear.

Thats populism in a nutshell.
