Because now I’ll see it every time I find one. Ignorance was far more blissful.
So don't pick up or use it. It's a fairly inconsequential item. Warg Fangs, Hyena Ears, and Gauth Eyes are more important.
DBS only make vitriol that is usable in one fairly mediocre Elixir. Skip it if your puritanical viewpoint objects.
You seriously need to lighten up if a joke has you this pressed. Maybe take a walk outside or something.
