If you can't afford to buy the pet to start with, I'm not sure where the person is going to suddenly get money for cat food, medical treatments, toys and basics like beds and scratch posts.

The whole post looks like "I need animals as a means of moneymaking. I have no capital to start with, and my plan is to lock them in cages for reproduction, to then sell the offspring, while hoping they live long enough and are cheap enough to make me enough cash to make it worth it". Basically a hobo breeder-model built on exploitation with zero regards for the animals.

People like that have to be kept from having pets. Or kids, for that matter.

Given my background the idea of buying a cat or dog is still amusing to me. Put out some food, and whatever stray eat it is now your pet.
