So I considering switching to Piped, but I'm wondering if the views (or other metrics) are counted on Youtube itself. I don't like the idea I'm kinda "robbing" the content creators I enjoy...

I think I know the answer but would like to know for sure.

If you aren't watching ads or going through youtube red then you aren't directly contributing financially to the creators even if it does count.

I'd argue it's worth it though, since you are a tiny drop in the view bucket

Of course, direct support is always better than the fraction of a penny you give them through ads
