But really how do they reproduce

3

Just saw in an announcement from the dev that they're releasing a minecraft clone with a focus on recreating and remastering the old minecraft days. Though it's in early access this is the rare early access gem that's mostly done before release. The 'early release' meaning that the game doesn't have full multiplayer support, they need to improve linux support, and want to have better modding support. A few other goals too.

Really happy to see this lethal dose of nostalgia come through

Their devs constantly make mistakes that harm the ecosystem, they suggest poor practices, and are generally incompetent.

They ddosed the aur twice the second time the exact same way as the first. No solution was put into place to fix the root cause and it caused a major issue. They didn't learn.

The lead arm Dev pushed an update to Asahi (trusted, due to their position) that broke the system for half of the users (those using xorg) showing the dev didn't test it on xorg at all. The problem? They upped a version for a dependency which had nothing to do with their code. The issue was documented. This dev, their lead arm dev, didn't check the docs before upoing the version. Didn't test at all either. This is a lead dev. That's their standard

Before asahi was released they claimed manjaro worked on the m1 macbooks with a marketing page and all shipping a random dev version of the Asahi kernal known to not even boot. This was lucky as if it could, the build had a chance to break the computer. What did they do this? Who knows.

They forgot to update their SSL certs 5 times telling people to change their system clocks the first time. You can automate SSL cert renewal by the way. It's easy and takes at max twenty minutes if it's not cooperating and you'll never have to worry again. This shows, again, they're not competant and don't learn from their mistakes.

They suggested, and strongly defended, using sudo pacman -Syyu which forces a database refresh for every install. This is not likely ever needed unless something fucks up bad and puts unnecessary stress on the repos.

A lot more too but I'm sleepy. I rarely say a distro is a bad choice but manjaro is the strongest exception for me. You can't trust their devs. Of course the entire AUR and update issue but that's hit or miss on whether it effects you

If you want a semi rolling release like manjaro I'd suggest OpenSuse tumbleweed. Same release idea but with consistantly competant devs.

Manjaro is a wet fart. I don't want them sitting in my lap man

That identifies the user sure, not location. More likely, the VPN was off at one point and reddit logged their known location. Just ignore the IP and take the last known personal location.

Guys logged in so fingerprinting isn't needed. They already got the guy. They're still fingerprinting though

It sold out to a multinational organization becoming non Canadian owned before changing their coffee, all their baked goods, and rebranding as a bit of a psuedo upscale fast food provider.

What was a chill, decent coffee spot with some in house baked good swapped out for just another resteraunt with coffee that served frozen factory made baked goods that are dry, tasteless, overpriced, and boring.

Quality dropped, nolonger Canadian owned, vibe changed entirely, price went up.

Tims shouldn't sell pizza, or fifty different lunch items. It shouldn't be a cheaper upscale caffe, it shouldn't be in competition with starbucks or McDonalds let alone both. But that's what it is now.

We can't do anything about the boat sinking gun, or try and take it away from the boat sinker, because that would be against good decorum. Don't worry though, we've thrown that guy who called the boat sinker a fuckhead off the boat. We have to take the high road and follow the rules or who knows what the boat sinker will do next. We'll calmly convince them to lower the amount of holes they put in the boat while cmpromising by understanding that some of those holes were needed.

Vote for us, and we'll only put a few holes in the boat

Apologies for the ranty nature. I read alot of books sure but my writting is trash

I started reading Sanderson with tress of the emerald sea. It was fantastic and Sandersons style was very catching to me. Recently, I made the decision to read more of his work. Sanderson suggested on his site an order and I started by his suggestion with Mistborn. Absolutely loving it still very catching but, in my opinion, it's much weaker than tress a book he made much later. Just going into the last of the 3 in the apparent first run so I'll be done in about 5 days. Thus, I'm looking for my next few books to read.

My major worry is that it just won't catch with me. If I start a book that's reasonably good but doesn't pull me back in I find myself failing to read it or anything else for quite some time. I essentially took a 6 month reading hiatus when I read Lessons in birdwatching a good, though very flawed, book. I'd do 20-50 pages a month with that book. Before I was reading daily for a few years, and after I've been doing the same, but sometimes I just find a book I won't give up and can't find myself excited to read.

He states that his suggestion to start with mistborn comes from the fact that he finds elantris to be weaker. With this in mind I'd like to know if it'd be worth it to skip the book, read the wiki or some synopsis, and move on to his more recent work. With nearly 600 pages that book would take 3-6 days of reading depending on how well it catches.

Is this sacrilege? Is the writing a serious downgrade for somebody who liked very much liked mistborn though thought it weak at times?

The authors great though. The guys got me planning to read what I asssume is magi-punk from the cover art for mistborn 4 which is not something I'd do normally

The real reason was a boring one and seemingly unrelated to that file. I just ran out of disk space. Still though, that’s not exactly a helpful error is it

Yeah I'm not paying attention to that election shit till tomorrow. If I'm tempted I'll remember I have to stir my chilli.

I'd love to know any tips or suggestions you all have for homemade "no way in hell I'm watching that shit right now" chilli.

Gonna slowly simmer for 4 hours stirring every 5 minutes. Adding cocoa to the mix as I've heard it helps

Why this community?

In 8 days inktober starts. I'd like to have a place were people can see others results and discuss their experience daily. After failing to find a community for this event I've created one myself. I'd love to hear peoples thoughts on how this should run though.

What is inktober?

Inktober is a yearly art event intended to improve your inking skills. Every day, there’s a prompt which everyone will draw with either ink on paper or digital inking. You may also dedicate yourself to a half marathon style Inktober by inking every second day.

To be discussed:

My suggestion is that we have a daily round up thread where yesterdays art is collected in one place and, if wanted, vote on our favorite piece to be included at the end of the month in a "community favorites" meta post.

Any suggestion on how this should be run, anything we can do to make this more fun, or something not listed would be greatly appreciated.

Want to help the community?

I'll admit, I don't have the most time. I'd heavily appreciate it if some of you would be willing to become mods so you can make the daily roundup post, pin it, unpin yesterdays, and update a list of these posts. Of course, enforcing the rules and cleaning up spam would also be kind but I understand we all have time issues

22

This is a place to share your Inktober pieces and to discuss the the prompt, event, or anything related to inking. See this post for more information:

Strictly positive as the point is to force ourselves to do this daily with the hope of improving our skills through repetition. Constructive criticism welcome if you can phrase if positively.

Discussion post is live with the intent of talking about how this should be run with my current goals. Feel free to join up and hope into the discussion.

This is the perfect opportunity to recreationally infect yourself with rare short term diseases. Try breaking your arm or nose so you have a story. Self harm has never been so cheap.

Edit: See evasive_chimpanzee's comment here, as the following seems to be incorrect information

Seriously though get checked for prostate cancer. Especially if you're over 25 it's very possible and catching it early will be a massive difference.

Same for everyone reading this. I doubt it's that expensive so please look into it and get checked if affordable where you are.

Don't worry guys, the judge offered to be that girl's mentor. Asked her parents and all, so he sees no problem with this usage of power. You can absolutely trust him to be alone with a child and "teach her right"

Aww, it's always sad to see a real one go. You'll always be in my mind linux 6.9.x (nice)

That guy in the bottom doesn't want to eat the rich, he's an anarcho capitalist. He wants microsoft to be free from those pesky regulations stopping it from collecting and selling every tiny piece of information it can get it's hands on

Created a while ago from a DnD session where the PC's were stalking a leonin man meeting some friends in a shifty alley, beside a bar using krita along with it's perspective tools. Using Muses brush pack, I'll send a link if requested. Very nice pencil and charcoal brushes.

I've been trying for a bit to get together a group or find one to join here with no success. I've posted in two communities here on lemmy, replied to a few peoples posts, and each time it seems that I and the others don't get enough people together to start a game.

My question is towards others experiance in the fediverse with getting together a group as a DM or a player.

Have you been able to do so?

If so, what's your experiance been? Where did you find success?

Is mastadon or another service a better place to look?

Any experiance or story is appreciated.

Alternatively, if you've been looking yourself and have had the same experiance, I'd love to have you at my table. I am in the EST timezone though
